Don Hume Leather
Based out of Miami (pronounced mi-a-ma) Oklahoma, Don Hume Leather is one of the oldest leather
makers in the U.S. They have been in business for over 50 years.

The founder, Mr. Don Hume, was a law enforcement officer who found that the department issued
gun holsters were lacking in terms of design and function. Mr. Hume had some experience in leather making so he
decided to make his own duty holster. Fellow officers liked the design and started asking him to make holsters for
them as well. Mr. Hume saw an opportunity and opened Don Hume Leather.
While Mr. Hume has long since retired from the business, Don Hume is currently owned by Oklahoma
Leather Products (who is also based in Miami, OK).
Originally Hume focused predominately on law enforcement duty gear including holsters, Sam Brown
belts, mag carriers, etc. Local OK based officers started asking for off duty holsters as well, so Hume decided to
get into the concealed carry market as well.

Their first off duty holster was an older version of the model H721, which is a belt holster
with a thumb break. This model is still produced today and has changed very little since the original design.
Over the years, Hume has expanded their concealed carry line to include:
-
IWB holsters
-
Pocket holsters
-
Ankle holsters
-
Paddle holsters
The most popular Don Hume holsters models today are the H715M- W/C and the JIT slide.
The JIT Slide (JIT stands for Just In Time) is an open top and open bottom strongside belt
holster. Part of it's popularity come from the low price point $25 to $28. For the money, it's a great little
holster (I've got several myself).
The H715 series is Hume's IWB line and comes in a clip-on version, snap straps version, and
thumb break version. Like the JIT, it has an excellent price point and is a good buy for the money.
As it stands right now, Hume only produced holsters in two colors: black or saddle brown. A
fairly progressive company, Hume offers holsters that will fit around 75 (and growing) different weapons. Hume is a
straight production shop that doesn't do any customization or one-offs.
If you are looking for a well made holster at good price than Don Hume would be a good one to
look at. While they compete with the likes of Galco and DeSantis in terms of quality, Hume seems to offer much
better prices.
