DeSantis Holsters
Founded by legendary holster maker, Gene DeSantis, DeSantis gun holsters is based in
Amity, NY. Although Mr. DeSantis was making holsters in the late 1960's, the DeSantis holster company was
formally started until 1972. Like many successful holster manufacturers, the company started out as a one man
show where Mr. DeSantis produced gun holsters at his kitchen table. Initially, the focus was on law
enforcement gear and off duty holsters, but the company also started focusing on the concealed carry crowd as
well.

A bit of little known DeSantis history, Greg Kramer of Kramer Leather, was an early employee of DeSantis Holsters from 1970 to 1976. He
left to pursue a career with the Post Office, and then later founded Kramer Leather.
Today, DeSantis offers a large selection of gun holsters and accessories in a number of
materials and styles. Under the direction of Mr. DeSantis, the company has been a pioneer in terms of
holster designs and improvements. For example:
-
They were the first commercial holster maker to create a holster with a locking
device integrated in the holster so a law enforcement officer could secure his weapon by
running a handcuff through the trigger and security hole. Over the years, this safety design has
become a standard request for some federal law enforcement agencies.

Today, DeSantis has holster models and accessories that are in use worldwide by various military
units, federal agencies, law enforcement departments, and armed civilians for self defense and concealed carry. In
terms of leather, DeSantis offers a black color and tan color. Their kydex and nylon holsters are generally black
in color, although their nylon military line also comes in various camo configurations as needed.
Should you decide that a DeSantis holster might be a possible option for you, know that they are
backed by almost 40 years of holster making experience and a commitment to quality. I had a DeSantis model called a
Cozy Partner, which was an IWB model I worn for almost 2 years straight. One day the snap-on button that attached
the holster to the belt sheared off as I was removing the holster. I called DeSantis to see what my options were.
They asked me to send it back on my dime, fixed it, and then shipped it back to me at no extra cost. Folks, that's
service.
